BIO

I was born in Southern California and grew up in the San Gabriel valley. I graduated with a BFA in Comparative Literature at Northern Arizona University and later studied illustration at the Academy of Art College in San Francisco; took core classes at California College of Arts and Crafts and Laney College in Oakland; and design and photography at School of Visual Concepts and Photo Center NW in Seattle.

Out of college I worked as a freelance writer and traveled with the photographer John Running documenting Native American pow wows and wrote stories on nature and other lifestyle subjects. I have worked as a journalist, designer, photographer, web developer and writer alongside my career as an artist.

My commercial work has been published in magazines, books, internet sites and corporate publications. In 2011, I was selected as one of 13 artists whose videos were screened by 4Culture in downtown Seattle for a year. In 2012, I helped found Studio F in the Tashiro Kaplan building in Pioneer Square. In 2013, I moved into an art studio Building 30 in Magnuson Park at its outset and serve on the artist advisory board for the Sand Point Arts and Cultural Exchange.

Since 2013 I have been exploring the figure through large scale photographic installation, video and print, seeking to go beyond the confines of historical gender expectations. Sex in Space, The Female Gaze and Camera as a Lover and other works were created out of this exploration.

For the Seattle Art Fair 2016, Barbara Robertson and I created In Context, an exhibition of site-specific work by 14 Seattle-based artists: Pat De Caro, Marita Dingus, Eva Isaksen, Etsuko Ichikawa, Anna McKee, Mary Ann Peters, Tracy Rector, Robertson, June Sekiguchi, Stillion, Kate Sweeney, Mary Welch, and the team of Amanda Knowles and Emily Gherard.

Currently working with Zone Editions to produce a platinum print boxed set of Sex in Space in 2019.
